How to Repair Noisy or Squeaking Ceiling Fan | Replace Bearing | KDK KY15D

Today, I want to show you how to troubleshoot and repair a noisy ceiling fan. In addition, I will service and deep clean this fan. When you hear squeaking coming from your ceiling fan, it's usually because some of its components are faulty.

Step 1: Diagnosis fan

1. If your fan makes a squeaking noise, then your fan maybe have bearings failure.
   
2. I will show you how to repair squeaking noise problems in this post.

Step 2: Removal fan

1. Turn off the fan switch. It is recommended to isolate all power supplies from your house for safety reasons.
   
   

   

   
   

   

   
   
2. First, open the fan rod cover and remove the wiring supply from the terminal block.
   
   

   

   
   

   

   
   
3. Remove safety wire and cotter pin.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
4. Remove nut and bolt from fan rod, then remove the fan.
   
   
   
   
   
5. Remove another safety wire screw.
   
   
   
   
   
6. Remove terminal block wiring and terminal block.
   
   
   
   
   
7. Remove 3 fan blades (2 screws each blade).
   
   
   
   
   
8. Remove top and bottom cover (6 screws).
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
9. Move the wiring into the main fan rod to remove the top bearing.
   
   

   

   
   
10. To remove the bearing, you need special tools (2 jaw pullers or 3 jaw pullers). Remove top bearing.
    
    
    
    
    
11. Remove the metal inner bottom cover, then remove the bottom bearing.
    
    
    
    
    
12. Clean and wipe any dirt or dust that accumulates at the fan stator.
    
    

    

    
    

Step 2: Installation

1. Recommend to use bearing 6203ZZ type as a replacement. However, I can't find any nearby store that sells 6203ZZ bearing. So I used bearing 6203RS type as a replacement.
   
   

   

   
   
2. Replacing or lubricating bearings can remove or fix squeaking problems. Recommend replacing the bearing for good practice.

   
   

   

   
   

   

   
   

   

   
   

   

   
   
3. This old plastic terminal cracked, so I used super glue to fix it.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
4. Install the fan parts and components in reverse order of removal. Note: Put some grease on the bearing.
   
   
   
5. Lastly, on the main power supply and switch on the fan.
   
   
6. No more noise coming from a fan.
